SEVONS History

SEVONS was chartered in 1987, with the original Interest Group being formed in October of 1985. There were 19 ONS members on the original chapter application in December 1986. Our first chapter president was Monica Rozzell. With varied backgrouds and a broad area of land mass that extends from the North Carolina line north to James City County and Nassawadox, and west to Isle of Wight County, these women set the course for oncology nurses of today. Original members were Babb, T., Boundy, B., Carmen, D., Foreman, V., Gillman, M.A., Grillo, K., Hixon, J., Lawrence, J., Lieberman, M., Levinson, C., McCain, M., Nichols, S., Radford, G., Ricci, D., Rozzell, M., Shatzoff, S., Vintinner, P., Vicente, L., Zeisberg, L.

From this small chapter, we have grown to 75+ members in 2008. WE offer nine educational meetings a year that foster the mission of ONS and promote networking in our local oncology nursing community. We hope to continue to grow and continue to advance the specialty of oncology nursing.
